Last night Rosie and I went to our first meeting with the SA
Natural Parenting group and we both had a lot of fun. I had been following them
on FB for awhile but kept missing the monthly meetings for one reason or
another. I finally took the plunge and
piled a bag full of snacks, a pad of paper to take notes and the baby mermaid
all into the car and off we went. Everyone was extremely chill and I was
surprised to find that it was such a refreshing mixture of people: moms, dads
and grandmas were there. I didn’t feel like such a newbie because everyone was
immediately friendly. It did help that I had a really cute kid as my sidekick.
;)
This meeting’s
discussion was all about gardening and composting and for a wannabe gardener
like myself this was a great way to pick up a few tips from folks who had been
there done that.
Now that my interest has been piqued, I’m looking into
starting a compost bin. Might as well since I just picked up my seeds the other
day to start a spring garden. I am not going to be too ambitious this season since we aren't going to be living at this house for long but I have my heart set on growing some fresh tomatoes and cucumbers!
Some of
the folks mentioned that the city of San Antonio offers a free composting class
and will even give you a bin. I haven’t been able to find anything like that
yet but I did find this in my search and thought it was too cool not share with any fellow San Antonio dwellers who are trying to find places to recycle.
