After six years of friendship and two years of being a couple guess who is going to get married?! I will give you a clue…

I seriously couldn’t be any happier! What I thought was going to be just a simple pleasant date night turned into one of the greatest evenings I could ever have ever imagined!  I will carry the magic of that moment in my heart for the rest of my life.

Stephen planned everything perfectly, I didn’t have an inkling of what was in store when we headed out the door.  To be honest between the deployment, my studies and his work I couldn’t remember the last time we had stolen away from the house for “just us” time. Let’s just say it had definitely been awhile.  This was made apparent when our resident teenager kept egging us to go on a proper date. So when Stephen said we absolutely had to dress up and go out you bet I was ready to bust out those foxy heels.

He took me to a quiet vineyard in the middle of hill country where we had an amazing dinner—sesame-crusted ahi tuna with a glass of the local red table wine. It was absolutely divine. I was in total foodie heaven. Even though I was enchanted with this whimsical place I could tell something was on Stephen’s mind. After all, we talked about Sons of Anarchy and he didn’t make a single Ron Perlman joke. (That should have been a sign something was up!)

When dinner ended, the waiter came and asked us if we were ready for dessert. “They take their dessert very serious here,” Stephen had told me. So we ordered a crème brulee and the next thing I know we are walking outside down a cobblestone path. Fairy lights glittered around us as we were led out to the vineyard. A small table was set up with a glowing lantern, a Tiffany’s box and this…

Under the beauty of a starry sky, Stephen got down on one knee and proposed that we spend the rest of lives together. I was so moved that my words failed me, thankfully I managed a breathless, “Yes.”
Every day by this man’s side has proven to me that not only does true love exist but lucky enough for me, I found him. <3
