What The Heck, Celestial Seasonings!

_____________

As someone who enjoys a nice cup of tea (especially green tea) I was a alarmed to find out that Celestial Seasonings tea was recently determined to have “dangerously high levels of pesticides” in many of their teas. These high level of pesticides exceed both federal and California state limits, according to a thorough study conducted by Glaucus Research. When questioned about the results, Celestial Seasonings refused to comment.

Celestial Seasonings boasts of being a “very natural” company but what exactly does that mean? I think one of my biggest annoyances happens to be with companies greenwashing, making consumers think they are purchasing a healthy product when in actuality they are just being duped by a label. Celestial Seasonings, if they truly stand by their products, needs to address the findings made by the study (as well as other outside sources) and own up to what most of us would consider gross negligence.

As for now, I recommend you boycott this brand until they do something about the dangerously high levels of poisons in their products. The following teas were the ones specifically tested by Glaucus, all of them except one were found to have high levels (Rooibos Safari Spice):

-Green Tea Peach Blossom

-Green Tea Raspberry Gardens

-Authentic Green Tea

-Antioxidant Max Dragon Fruit

-Green Tea Honey Lemon Ginger

-Antioxidant Max Blackberry Pomegranate

-Antioxidant Max Blood Orange

-Sleepytime Kids Goodnight Grape

-Sleepytime Herb Teas

-English Breakfast Black K-Cup

-Rooibos Safari Spice

Thanks but no thanks, Celestial Seasonings. Perhaps you guys could invent a new, more accurately descriptive name for your teas like Sleepy Rat Poison Delight?
