Mei Tai & MobyWrap review

"Another one?" Stephen asked, quirking an eyebrow as I gleefully unwrapped my newest package. A beautiful mei tai baby carrier. Asthetically, I was in love at first sight with the canvas material and pretty floral design. It was understated and unlike the Mobywrap, not nearly as daunting.

Stephen tends to just shake his head when it comes to my weird "hippy" tendencies, like oh...carrying Rosie around the house in the mei tai or implimenting cloth diapers. But that's whatever, the point I'm trying to make is I love this thing!

mama's little koala bear.

The biggest problem I found with the Mobywrap is that it was just such a hassle. I'd get tangled in the cloth trying to wrap it around and if I didn't have a second person to help me it was near impossible to get it to sit right. It is such a pity because I love the simplicity of the Moby's look. The second problem with the Mobywrap is that it gets very hot for both baby & mama because of it's thick material. This is a no-go down here in Texas where the summer days are typically a crispy 100 degrees or more.

With the meitai, there is a lot les material so it's more comfortable. The straps are easy to adjust and best of all I don't need a second person to help. Even me, clumsiest person around, can swiftly tie the straps in place. There are tons and tons of designs and brands that make mei tai's. I got mine from here but some of the more popular brands are Kozy and BabyHawk.
