Memorial Day

I've been doing this gig for almost five and half years now and it hasn't always been rainbows and sunshine. But I won't say that I don't find reasons to enjoy it. The military has given me structure and direction, helped mold the kind of person I am today. Whether I decide to be a lifer or get out, I will take with me the lessons I've learned and the friendships I have made.

Tomorrow, when the rest of the family is out grilling and enjoying the warm weather I will be rocking the uniform and combat boots. I'm far from harms way and while working on a holiday weekend is lonely, I'm grateful for what I have. My brothers and sisters deployed right now don't have it as easy and it's for honoring them tomorrow that I will carry on with my duty without complaint and pray one day they will all make it back to American soil.

To those who have fought before me, fight alongside me and someday take my place--thank you.
