Hello September!

This is my obligatory "I love fall" post.
It’s hard for me to say goodbye to the summertime after making some really incredible memories over the past few months but as we step into September I sense the changing of seasons & can't help but feel excited. While it won't be another few more months before we see a true drop in temperature, the high of 95 sure beats 104. And we have been blessed with a few rainstorms recently too. Stores are already beginning to prepare for Halloween festivities (!!!) with lots of crazy decorations. It won’t be long before the leaves change and we set out to plant a few autumn vegetables before winter comes along.

I am looking forward to rock climbing in cooler weather, exploring some new trails and soaking up the crisp air the autumn brings along with it’s arrival. This year I want to celebrate the autumn equinox with Rosie with a couple little projects. Nothing too complicated because Martha Stewart I am not. Maybe we will collect leaves to press, make some cool rocks like these or how about some tin can lanterns?

I was pretty excited to see the fall edition of woodchuck at the grocery store yesterday. This stuff is glorious. And since I’m already feeling the spirit of autumn here are a few more things I am looking forward to!

  • Planting seeds for a fall harvest. Certain plants do well late in the season here in Texas. I am looking forward to fresh lettuce, snap peas, potatoes, carrots & radishes. I think I might need to learn how to properly can goods before long.
  • Pumpkin everything! Going to the patch, decorating them, & of course pumpkin-flavored food. This mama misses her pumpkin bread from the local bakery, Sol & Luna. Maybe I will try my hand at making my own from scratch this year.
  • Decorating the casa. Breaking out the warm colored linens, hanging up spooky decorations for Halloween and using some clove & cinnamon scentsy. Yes!
  • Making a costume. I am still brainstorming what sort of costume I want for Rosie this year. Kind of a challenge because she is the middle of this clothing rebellious stage, lol.
  • Wardrobe change. We don’t get snow down here but the cooler weather calls for colorful scarves and knitted hats. I am a sucker for summer dresses but I love fall/winter fashion most of all.

  1. Ok, when you mentioned pumpkin flavored food, I had to share this recipe for pumpkin cream cheese muffins. I'm a fairly picky baker, but these are top-notch. Hope you enjoy! :)
