On any given Saturday you can usually find me at the local farmer’s market stocking up on seasonal veggies and eggs. There is something about the sunshine, the music and all the delicious food that just makes my heart sing! Best of all, ever since I first made the transition to eating organic whenever possible I have been looking for ways to make this health decision more economical & getting my food locally does just that. Not only are the foods typically much cheaper, you also know where it’s coming from!
In getting to know the farmers not only are you making a friend, but you can find out what pesticides (if any) they use. Often at times local farmers can’t afford to be labeled organic but they nonetheless grow their produce chemical-free (as one farmer told me: “using pesticides just isn’t worth it to me”).
So here’s a few tips:
1. Check here to find your local farmer’s market.
2. With warmer weather kicking in make sure to bring water & sunblock. Also bring your own bags helps cut down on waste.
3. Don’t want to make the trip? These guys will ship food straight to your door.
