It's taken me 23 years to realize this one simple truth: Do what you love & everything else will fall into place. I'm not saying that you should just up & quit your job expecting to win the lottery but more like the sensation you get when you're on the right path. For me it wasn't until I found out I was going to be a mother that I really reflected on where I wanted to be. Up until that point I had simply drifted, not overly happy with my life but not exactly sure what it lacked. In having Rosemary, I found my muse and three things happened: Writing, a love I had long ago put on the shelf to collect dust, came back to me like a long lost friend. I finally figured out what I wanted to "do when I grew up" and began my college education in psychology after a 5-year gap. And above all, I decided that my goal in life would be to seek happiness. Life is too darn short to waste on things that won't help improve your environment. This means letting go of crappy friendships, trust me, there are cooler people you could be out meeting. This means learning to say no when your workload is already full. & lastly this means periodically asking yourself, is what I'm doing right now making me happy? If not, fix the situation!
And above all knowing that doing what we love takes courage. That every step you and I take towards a better life requires us to be brave, to not just test the waters but dive right in. It's a big ocean out there baby but what better place to swim?
